Itai Anghel and Amos Nachoum – On Fear and Creation

About: On Fear and Creation

90 minutes | Accompanied by a presentation | Required equipment: projector, screen, sound system, microphone or Madonna headset

In Times Like These, When Fear Becomes an Inseparable Part of Our Lives – Itai Anghel and Amos Nachum, Face to Face in a Conversation about Fear and Creation

Itai Anghel, winner of the Sokolov Prize for Journalism, has been reporting from the front lines of the world's toughest human conflicts since the early 1990s in Bosnia, Syria, Iraq, Gaza, Ukraine, and elsewhere, as the only Israeli journalist that ever did it.

Amos Nachum, a two-time winner of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year award (in the animal behavior category) and the fresh winner of the 2023 NOGI Award for Art, photographs large predators such as the polar bear, the killer whale, the Nile crocodile, the anaconda, and the white rhino – from zero distance and without protection, and how all this is related to the trauma he experienced in the Chinese Farm battle in the Yom Kippur War.

A special and fascinating encounter between two people who manage to create out of fear and uncertainty, and who touch with their creations – each in their own special way – the hearts of many.

Amos Nachoum has lead great expeditions for individual adventurers and institutions like Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Discovery Channel, Armani, Disney, and Colombia Pictures. For National Geographic, he was team leader for separate photo expeditions to document the Red Sea, Great White Sharks, and Killer Whales.

His photos and essays have appeared in hundreds of publications around the globe, including National Geographic, Time, Life, The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, Le Figaro, Terra Sauvage, Airone, Mondo Somerso, Der Spiegel, Unterwasser, and many more. His work has also been included in the books The Living Ocean, The World of Nature, and Oceans. He has appeared on National Geographic Explorer, Today, and Good Morning America and featured in People, Esquire, and Money magazines. Amos’s photography has won Nikon, Communication Arts, and BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards.

Above all else, Amos loves people as much as wildlife. His concern for both inspired him to co-found Israel’s Marine National Park on the Red Sea.

Though his interest in conservation began with sharks, he looks to bring attention to the most fragile regions of the underwater realm with preservation of the environment foremost in his mind. His favorite way to raise awareness and stimulate passion for the ocean is to help guests experience it first-hand. For those unable to join him on his adventures, he brings the oceans to the world through his photography and public speaking engagements.

In 2019 Amos was honored to be selected  as 2019 Sea Keeper of the year!
